People are now living longer than ever, often into their 80s. But healthspan — the years lived in good health — averages just 62. Most of us will spend nearly two decades not really living, but managing decline.
It compounds. Retirement ages are rising globally. The retirement savings gap is also projected to hit $400 trillion by 2050. This means most people will be forced to work longer just to sustain the lives they have.
The good news: most of this is preventable. If we build the right habits early, we change the trajectory entirely.
